Data Sharing Policy

Albahit Journal of Applied Sciences encourages authors to share their research data to promote transparency, reproducibility, and the advancement of scientific discovery. We believe that making data openly available enhances the impact and scrutiny of published work, fostering a more collaborative and robust research environment.

Our policy on data sharing is as follows:

  1. Encouragement of Data Sharing: Authors are strongly encouraged to make their underlying research data, including raw data, processed data, code, and other relevant materials, publicly available whenever feasible and ethical. This applies to all data necessary to reproduce and verify the findings presented in the published manuscript.

  2. Data Availability Statement: For all submissions, authors are required to include a "Data Availability Statement" within their manuscript. This statement should describe where and how readers can access the data supporting the published results. Examples include:

    • "The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request."

    • "All data generated or analyzed during this study are included in this published article [and its supplementary information files]."

    • "The datasets generated and/or analyzed during the current study are available in the [Repository Name] repository, [Persistent Web Link to Data Sets]."

    • "Due to the sensitive nature of the research, data are not publicly available." (with justification)

  3. Recommended Repositories: We recommend that authors deposit their data in a recognized, public data repository that provides a persistent identifier (like a DOI or accession number). Examples include:

    • Generalist repositories: Figshare, Zenodo, Dryad, Open Science Framework (OSF)

    • Discipline-specific repositories: (e.g., GenBank for genomics, PDB for structural biology, NOAA for atmospheric data)

  4. Ethical and Legal Considerations: When sharing data, authors must ensure full compliance with:

    • Privacy and Confidentiality: Data involving human subjects must be anonymized or de-identified to protect privacy.

    • Consent: Appropriate informed consent must have been obtained from participants for data sharing, where applicable.

    • Intellectual Property Rights: Any intellectual property rights or existing licenses governing the data must be respected.

    • National and Institutional Regulations: Authors must adhere to all relevant national and institutional policies regarding data sharing. If data cannot be shared due to ethical or legal restrictions, this should be clearly stated in the Data Availability Statement.

  5. Data Citation: When data are deposited in a repository, authors should formally cite the dataset in their manuscript's reference list, similar to how they cite articles. This ensures proper credit for data creators.

By promoting data sharing, the Albahit Journal of Applied Sciences aims to enhance the transparency, discoverability, and long-term utility of the research we publish.
