Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Albahit Journal of Applied Sciences supports the responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in scientific research and academic publishing while maintaining principles of research integrity, transparency, and authors’ full responsibility for published content.
This policy defines the guidelines for the use of AI tools in manuscripts submitted to the journal.
1. Acceptable Use of AI Tools
The journal permits the use of AI tools for supporting activities that do not compromise research originality or authors’ scientific responsibility, including:
- Improving language, style, and readability.
- Grammar and spelling assistance.
- Supporting manuscript organization and wording improvement.
- Assisting with data analysis or programming, provided that results are verified.
- Supporting research activities while maintaining proper validation and citation practices.
2. Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools when such tools are used substantially during manuscript preparation.
The disclosure should include:
- Name of the AI tool or system used.
- Purpose of use.
- Section or stage where the tool was applied.
Example:
"The authors used an artificial intelligence tool to assist with language improvement of the manuscript. All content was reviewed and verified by the authors."
3. Authors’ Responsibility
Authors remain fully responsible for:
- Accuracy of information, data, and scientific findings.
- Correctness of references and citations.
- Originality of the research and absence of plagiarism.
- Reviewing and correcting any AI-assisted content.
The use of AI tools does not transfer scientific or ethical responsibility away from the authors.
4. AI as an Author
AI tools and artificial intelligence systems cannot be listed as authors or contributors because they cannot assume legal, ethical, or scientific responsibility for published content.
All authors must be real individuals who have made significant scientific contributions to the research.
5. Unacceptable AI Use
The following practices are considered violations of publication ethics:
- Presenting AI-generated content as entirely original work without disclosure or review.
- Using AI tools to fabricate data, results, or references.
- Generating false citations or sources.
- Using AI to conceal plagiarism.
- Entering confidential or unpublished research information into public AI systems.
6. Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors
Reviewers and editors must:
- Not upload confidential manuscripts or manuscript content to public AI tools.
- Maintain confidentiality of submitted materials.
- Not rely on AI tools for final peer-review or editorial decisions without independent human evaluation.
7. Handling AI Misuse
If unethical use of AI tools is identified, the journal may take appropriate actions according to COPE guidelines, including:
- Requesting explanations from authors.
- Rejecting the manuscript.
- Retracting published articles when necessary.
- Issuing corrective actions to protect the scholarly record.
8. Compliance with International Standards
Albahit Journal of Applied Sciences applies this AI Policy in accordance with:
- Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Guidelines
- DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
